The rifle is serial number C, 38953, which is clearly marked on the tang of the rifle, with the matching serial number under the barrel (concealed by the forend). This serial number is in the range of the guns issued to the 6 th Veteran Volunteer Infantry. Labowskie, who has the Sharps factory records. For a fee, he'll check the serial number & provide any information from the the records.
